What is the last ingredient you added to make the foam in the beaker. I got hydrogen peroxide and soap but can’t determine the third ingredient. This type of volcanic explosion is just what I want for my science experiment.

The catalyst in the beaker is a solution of sodium iodide. It’s important that you understand that this reaction is very exothermic and the 30% hydrogen peroxide can be very dangerous to handle. You must have goggles on and all safety measures in place.

Because of the chemicals needed for the experiment, you’ll need to contact Flinn Scientific at (800) 452-1261. You have to be a middle or high school science teacher to buy from them - that’s their policy. There’s not a better chemical supply company for teachers in the world.

i have a science project on making a volcano. I want my volcano to explode up in the air a few feet how do i do that without using the mentos and diet cola method?
