We kicked off the day with registration followed by the first Science at Sea lecture – Welcome to Alaska. After a few ice breakers and meet-and-greet activities, our naturalist, John Scheerens, welcomed everyone with a overview of the experience. After lunch, it was time to load the buses and head to Whittier to board the Carnival Spirit. As you’ll see in the video, Brian Firooz was a trouble maker during the bus loading process… and the bus driver set him straight.
This a a great introduction to our naturalist for Science at Sea. John Scheerens shares some information about living in Alaska and what we’re going to see on our excursions.
The Science at Sea team spent all of today going over the final details for the coolest shore excursions. Our naturalist, John Scheerens, visited our offices today before heading to Alaska for the season. John gave our team a sneak preview of his Science at Sea Lecture Series, and I know that you’re going to love what he has to share. As John shared his great content, the rest of us brainstormed hands-on activities that you’ll be using in your classroom to make all of this great information come alive.
Our AAA Travel Coordinator, Gina MacDonald, gave us the good news that our Science at Sea adventure is nearly sold out. There are just six space available (and she has 10 e-mails from people who are interested in joining our group). If you still have not paid your deposit, your space will be up for grabs after Friday. If you have any questions, please contact Gina MacDonald right away by e-mailing her at gmacdonald@colorado.aaa.com
It seems like we’ve been talking about our Science at Sea program for a few years, and come to think of it… we have. The idea was really born two years ago and now we’re seeing all of the pieces come together. Today, we were fortunate to have our Alaskan naturalist, John Scheerens, in our offices along with Gina MacDonald from AAA Travel to finalize all of the details that go into making an Spangler experience of this magnitude happen. The people at Carnival promise to get us to each of our ports of call in style while the instructional team on shore is ready to knock our socks off with some amazing Alaskan experiences.
Good news and bad news… The Science at Sea experience is almost sold out, but that means there are only six spots left. If you’re interested in being a part of a once in a lifetime experience, you have just a few days left to join our group. Our special discount pricing expires this Friday, April 3rd.
