Staff Spotlight on JJ – Master of Production

Q: Tell us a little about who you are…
A: I am a very personable and outgoing person who loves to make the best out of every situation. I feel as though no man or woman is better than the next and that we all need to work close to one another to really expand our horizons in life. Having the privilege to work for such a great company has allowed me to have a multitude of opportunities that I never thought were possible or that I would ever even come across in my life. I have been with the company now for 3 1/2 years and still wake up every morning excited to come to my job and work with my friends. It really takes a unique work environment to be able to say that your coworkers are not just team members but lifelong friends and that is one of my favorite things about working at Steve Spangler Science.

Q: What do you do at Steve Spangler Science?
A: I help oversee the production of the fun kits and educational products that we provide to our great customers. I also

Staff Spotlight on Our Beloved Mae (and Steve’s Mother-in-Law)

Q: Tell us a little about who you are…
A:
I am a wife of 46 years, mother of three, and grandmother of eight.  And . . . I happen to be Steve’s mother-in-law so there are lots of stories I can tell you about him!!  I can still very vividly remember Steve and our daughter, Renée, sitting at our kitchen table discussing whether or not they should take the risk and start this business.
Q: What do you do at Steve Spangler Science?
A:
I have worked with the company since its beginning and have worn many different hats.  I have been on many product assembly lines, rolled thousands of Wind Bags and Solar Bags, unloaded millions of pipettes into our shed, and sewn hundreds of strips of cloth for one of Steve’s tricks, just to mention a few.  In 1997, I became the Shipping Manager (out of our basement!), all while working nights as an RN two or three times a week at a nearby hospital.  In April of 2001, I departed from my job at the hospital to become the full-time

Staff Spotlight on Lisa Brooks – Yes She IS Related to Steve

Q: Tell us a little about who you are…
A: Who knew this would be such a hard question to answer.  I guess I can start by saying I’m one of the longest lasting employees with the company and sister-in-law to Mr. Spangler.  I started doing part time projects when I was 14 years old when Steve and Renee first started the company.  I’d mail out fliers to elementary schools about Steve’s programs.  I can honestly say I wasn’t great at it since I was a typical teenager and didn’t have the motivation I do now.  For some lucky reason, Steve and Renee kept me on and hired me full time back in ’97.  We’ve been inseparable ever since!

Q: What do you do at Steve Spangler Science?
A: I handle accounts payable and receivable, as well as conference planning.  If you’ve seen our booth at a conference, it’s because of yours truly.  I book the travel, make sure the product arrives safely, print lots and lots of maps and do everything just shy of planning their bathroom breaks…although, sometimes I plan that too.

Q: What
