Our kids are blogging. Are you listening?

As blogging is becoming more mainstream for kids and teenagers, we need to train ourselves to become more alert for how kids could come to use their own blogs as an outlet for frustration and to cry out for help. We as parents and teachers should be aware of our kids’ blogs and be quietly reading them, looking for warning signs. Here’s an example of a teenage girl confiding in her blog: “I really hate my life right now.. I wish it’d just end..” and “my sister’s [ half-sister ] grandma passed away yesterday.. See how life sucks? We weren’t that close but.. Well, at least she’s with Jesus already.. Wish I was there, too.” I hope a parent or teacher read this, but somehow I doubt it.
