1. Who is Bradley Mayhew – Tell us about yourself
Iʼm an Aquarius, I love being outside and taking long walks on the beach at sunset…Technology is a HUGE part of my life. At home we have an iMac, MacBook Pro, MacBook, Apple TV, two iPhone 4s, an iPad, and an iPad 2. All of them are connected in some way. Iʼm obsessed with utility apps for my iPad . Anything that allows me to control something from another location is awesome. Other than that, I am a movie and TV buff. Currently I own over 1200 movies and 150 seasons of various shows… and yes, I can access all of them on my iPad from across the country (thanks StreamToMe)!
2. What do you do at SSS and how long have you been here?
Iʼve been doing work for the company since May of 2008, and officially hired on in September of that year. I met Steve while attending Magic in the Rockies in 2006 and ran into him a few years later while working for Apple. My first task after being hired on was to ingest 20 years of

The Spangler team received its second Heartland Chapter Emmy Award last Saturday night at the awards gala held in Denver, Colorado. The award was received for the half hour television special – Spangler Science and Weather at Coors Field - that aired on KUSA-TV 9News in Denver, Colorado. But this award is extra special for the Spangler team because we share it with our own Bradley Mayhew who is credited on the Emmy as the editor.
The television special documented the first ever Weather and Science Day at Coors Field 2009. It was at this event that the Spangler team received its first Guinness World Record for the Large Physics Lesson – conducting a hands-on science demonstration with 5,401 people all at the same time.
Our first Heartland Chapter Emmy Award was awarded in 1997 while I was working at KCNC as the host of News for Kids, a nationally syndicated show that aired every Saturday morning.
Here’s a quick overview of the half hour

The Colorado Broadcasters Association held their CBA Awards of Excellence dinner on Saturday night, and we’re honored to have received second place for Best Single Show with the Spangler Science at Coors Field entry. The thirty minute show was an edited version of the live Weather and Science Day that took place at Coors Field in May 2009. Guinness World Records awarded the Spangler team a world record for the Largest Physics Lesson. Props to our video editor, Bradley Mayhew, for editing the entire project to fit into the half hour show format. And a special thanks to Kathy Sabine for co-hosting the event.

There’s only one problem with these “best of” video lists… someone has to actually sort through all of the videos and come up with a list! Props to our genius video editor, Bradley Mayhew, for all of his editing magic in 2008. When the year starts out with 4,500 pounds of cornstarch and water and a cement truck on The Ellen Degeneres Show… you know it’s going to be quite a year! Our video and experiment library has grown to almost 400, with 70 new science videos added to our science video library just this year. Selecting our Top 10 Videos for the year was tough, but here are our personal favorites. Let us know what you think…
